Dan Welk’s photograph, “Mary’s Cafe,” won first place in the Downtown Faces & Places category at the 2011 Iowa State Fair Photography Salon.
The black and white photograph depicts a street scene with men congregating on a sidewalk outside a downtown cafe in Muscatine, Iowa.
In addition to the success at the Iowa State Fair, the image has been exhibited as part of the Vault fundraiser at The Des Moines Art Center, and the Vieux Muscatine exhibit at The Muscatine History And Industry Center.
The Downtown Faces & Places Category was sponsored by Mainstreet Iowa.
